THE THUMPMONKS GENESIS

Sprung from a relationship forged over a record in 1995, Max Hsu and Brian Gocher have worked on records for hit radio artists, trailers for Hollywood blockbusters, soundtracks for video games, major brand ad campaigns, and score for film and TV.

Max was raised between Hong Kong and Chicago. Brian grew up in New York City. While Max’s parents were forcing him to play piano and horn, Brian was gluing his electric guitar back together after playing punk shows. Passionately pursuing music led them both on a path where eventually a publishing company put them together to work on one of Max’s records for his band, Superchick.

After a decade of touring, remixing, developing, producing, and collaborating with artists and producers like Toby Mac, Steve Lily-white, and The Newsboys, Max joined Brian and the two started making music under a new name: The Thumpmonks.

The Thumpmonks draw music influences from New York punk & indy, Chicago club, Japanese game shows, 80s and 90s Hip hop, and heavy cinema soundtracks.
